MACHELLE M. SEIBEL, M.D.

Dr. Machelle M. Seibel is a leading expert in women’s health.  A Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Massachusetts, he currently serves as Medical Director of Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc., Waltham, MA, and has a private practice. 

His experience and work at various prestigous institutions distinguishes Dr. Seibel as one of the best in his field.  He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed his internship and residency at Grady Hospital and Emory Medical School in Atlanta.  Dr. Seibel then did a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Harvard Medical School.  Subsequently, he was appointed Director of the Gynecology Endocrine Laboratory, Director of In vitro Fertilization, Director of the Fellowship Training Program and Director of Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  He was a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty from 1979 until 1997 where he rose to the title of Associate Clinical Professor, and Clinical Professor at Boston University School of Medicine from 1997 to 2001.  Dr. Seibel has conducted many clinical trials and testified before the FDA. 

Dr. Seibel has written or edited 10 books and authored or co-authored more than 200 scientific articles.  He has won several national awards including the Searle-Donald F. Richardson Award for research from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Contemporary Ob-Gyn Annual Award for the best gynecologic paper of the year; and the Mead-Johnson Award from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for development of an interactive video system for patient information.  In 2003 Dr. Seibel founded HealthRock which combines his music with health education.

Dr. Seibel has extensive experience with the media.  He has been featured in People Magazine (February 7, 2000) and interviewed by Inside Edition.  For over 20 years he has been regularly interviewed for women’s health issues by major print, radio and broadcast media.  In 2000 he co-hosted a weekly health and fitness radio talk show on WMEX AM in Boston and in 2001 he hosted a weekly health radio talk show for the North American Broadcasting Company.  Dr. Seibel is the editor-in-chief of “Sexuality, Reproduction and Menopause,” a journal of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.  In 2003, Woodward and White surveyed 35,000 doctors nationally who again voted him into Best Doctors in America in his specialty.
